James Carr-Smith

James spent over 30 years in the British Army, latterly commanding the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the British Army’s officer academy. Before then, he worked as the senior soldier diplomat in the British Embassy in Washington D.C. He has served in the corridors of Whitehall, as Private Secretary to the Head of the British Army, and in the campaigns in Iraq and Afghanistan.

James is an experienced leader with a reputation for delivery. Highly empathetic with strong interpersonal and communication skills, he thrives on changing organisational culture and developing teams to achieve successful outcomes.

James is the COO of Pelham Street.
